A soul-stirring sensuous dance form, ancient in origin, it is very popular in Rajasthan and widely acclaimed world over. It is named after the `Kalbeila` tribe of the snake-charmers of Rajasthan who caught snakes, traded snake-venom and sometimes begged for alms. The fluidity of the dance movements are similar to the swift and magnificent moving of a serpent. Even the traditional costumes are black in colour and the dancers sway in their swirling skirts sensually to the soulful tune of the `been`, which is used to charm the snake. Personification of a snake is the theme of this dream dance form
